米、中東に防空システム追加配備へ米軍への攻撃増加受け - ロイター (Reuters Japan)

[ワシントン２１日ロイター] - 米国防総省は２１日、地上配備型ミサイル迎撃システム「高高度防衛ミサイル（ＴＨＡＡＤ）」と追加の防空システム「パトリオット」大隊を中東に配備すると発表した。同地域で米軍への攻撃が増加していることを受けた。

イスラエルとイスラム組織ハマスの戦闘を受けて地域の緊張が高まる中、米政府はイランを後ろ盾とする組織の動きに警戒を強めている。

オースティン国防長官は声明で「イランとその代理勢力による中東各地での最近の緊張激化についてバイデン大統領と詳細を協議した結果、本日、地域における国防総省の態勢をさらに強化する一連の追加措置を指示した」と述べた。

追加部隊に派遣準備を進めるよう命じたことも明らかにした。人数は不明。国防総省は既に約２０００人を準備態勢に置いている。

オースティン氏は「これらの措置は地域の抑止力を強化し、地域における米軍の戦力保護を強化し、イスラエルの防衛を支援する」と述べた。
